Testimony of a Miracle Girl

Shelby gave her Aplastic Anemia testimony (9-18-15) at the coffee house gathering held monthly at The Little White Church in Hill City. A nice crowd came together, filtering in as Shelby spoke. Here it is, though lengthy...

My Testimony

- I’ll start off with my early childhood:

- When I was very young I was diagnosed with PDD (Pervasive Developmental Disorder)…also referred to as a mild form of autism.

- My single mom tried hard to meet the challenges that came with me.

- When I was a toddler she began letting me stay with my grandparents once in a while for a week or two, and they lived about 450 miles away at that time.

- It was a fun adventure for me, and it gave my mom some time to regroup.

- Then each summer I would visit my grandparents for a few weeks, once they moved to Hill City to start their "retirement" business, and I was always so happy to be back in Hill City.

- And the first year I moved up here is when Hill City had their first soccer team, and of course, I wanted to play…

 - So my grandpa wanted me to have health insurance in case I got hurt. He did all the research and couldn’t find insurance for me, but finally went to SD Medicaid. And so, I played my first year of soccer…no injuries.

- I was just into the second year, and that is when I started seeing symptoms…

Jesus, the Rising One and Only, Seek Him

Photo-art credit goes to a friend who sees nature
as God's second book...all to His credit.

And the LORD will be king over all the earth;

in that day the LORD will be the only one,

and His name the only one.

-Zechariah 14:9

And he said unto him,

Why callest thou me good?

there is none good but one, that is, God:"

-Matthew 19:17

I am the good shepherd:

the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.

-John 10:11

This country’s problems, I believe,

have been created by leaders

choosing to leave God, i.e. Jesus Christ the Creator,

out of their decision making.

If you see in the East a bright light

and Him coming down out of the heavens

riding on a white horse leading His followers,

you can rest assured

that the problems of this country and this world

are about to be solved.

-S.B.

And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse;

and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True,

and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.

His eyes were as a flame of fire,

and on his head were many crowns;

and he had a name written, that no man knew,

but he himself.

And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood:

and his name is called The Word of God.

And the armies which were in heaven

followed him upon white horses,

clothed in fine linen, white and clean.

And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword,

that with it he should smite the nations:

and he shall rule them with a rod of iron:

and he treadeth the winepress

of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

-Revelation 19:11-15

Heart Treasure

A package in a square
wrapped with rubber bands
only Mama understands
what is in there.

Your word I have treasured in my heart,
that I may not sin against you.
-Psalm 119:11 NASB

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet,
and a light unto my path.

-Psalm 119:105 KJV

It is written,
Man shall not live by bread alone,
but by every word
that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
-Jesus via Matthew 4:4 KJV

But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost,
whom the Father will send in my name,
he shall teach you all things,
and bring all things to your remembrance,
whatsoever I have said unto you.
-Jesus via John 14:26 KJV

Please read Psalm 107 (click)

And do not be conformed to this world,
but be transformed by the renewing of your mind,
that you may prove what is that good and acceptable
and perfect will of God.
-Romans 12:2 NKJV

Blessed is the man
who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked
or stand in the way of sinners
or sit in the seat of mockers.

But his delight is in the law of the LORD,
and on his law he meditates day and night.

He is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither.
Whatever he does prospers.
-Psalm 1:1-3 NIV

On Quiet Time

(click link to read the verse - Ezek. 1:25)

What is the letting down of the wings? People so often say, “How do you get the voice of the Lord?” Here is the secret. They heard the voice when they stood and let down their wings.

We have seen a bird with fluttering wings; though standing still, its wings are fluttering. But here we are told they heard the voice when they stood and had let down their wings.

Do we not sometimes kneel or sit before the Lord and yet feel conscious of a fluttering of our spirits? Not a real stillness in His presence.

A dear one told me ... of a certain thing she prayed about, “But,” said she,

“I did not wait until the answer came.”

She did not get still enough to hear Him speak, but went away and followed her own thought in the matter. And the result proved disastrous and she had to retrace her steps.

Oh, how much energy is wasted! How much time is lost by not letting down the wings of our spirit and getting very quiet before Him! Oh, the calm, the rest, the peace which come as we wait in His presence until we hear from Him!

Sweet Fragrant Aroma

But thanks be to God,
who always leads us in His triumph in Christ,
and manifests through us the
sweet aroma
of the knowledge of Him in every place.
For we are a fragrance of Christ to God
among those who are being saved
and among those who are perishing;
2 Corinthians 2:14,15 NASB

The love of God is expressed
on the merits of His own nature,
by what He has done;
apart from our vain efforts to impress
or to earn His favor.

Be thankful in His love
freely given.
Be led in His triumph
by obedience.

...a fragrance of Christ to God!

This way His love is recognized
through you by others in distress,
who will receive Him as you did,
drawn by knowledge wafting high
and low, where Jesus went.

The breath of rest by grace to savor
wonder knows as peace and truth—
In every place, the Savior's scent!
Forgive, as you were.
Give, as you were given to.

Natural Sleep Remedies

Sleep is imperative,
and we are aware of it;
but when we think, there it is
... it leaves us right where it is.

I think, thinking is not of it
(though dreaming is part of it);
so, try listening to other things
and think nothing of the narrative ...

Soon slumber comes, settling.
Or, begin a poem like this one is,
at four a.m.—too hard to think.
Now, here's a remedy! ... riddling.

Or, this is comparative:
Sense fingers, toes and eyelashes—
one at a time ... and think of it.
... When you can't, you'll sleep instead.

But, best of all is when He sings
within your heart a precious hymn
or gives a verse on which to think
and folds His peace beneath your chin.
